Thanksgiving Day

This Thanksgiving was a little bit different from years past. I think we started a new tradition this year. As we Bowens know, we're not ones to have set traditions every year. However, I think that might change because of this Thanksgiving.
Stacey and Ben proposed the idea of having Thanksgiving outside several months ago. The only thing holding us back would be the weather. If it was freezing rain or snow, which is not uncommon this time of year, we would have to cancel and do the traditional thing inside. But, Thanksgiving arrived with partly cloudy skies and a pleasant 45 degrees...perfect for a Thanksgiving celebration in the Great Outdoors. Ben was the mastermind. He was in charge of the 'garbage-can turkey' and the dutch oven cooking.
He made delicious potatoes au gratin, gravy and wild rice stuffing in the dutch ovens. With a heap of coals underneath the heavy cast iron pot, Ben made gourmet entres with, high rustic style. The rest of us contributed with sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, bread, the veggie patty and of course, a large selection of pies.
What a Thanksgiving!
