Birds of a feather...

Holidays make me nostalgic. Whether it's the Fourth of July, Christmas, President's Day or Halloween that heavy sense of home, family and tradition mellows in my mind.

This evening, being Halloween, I was pleasantly plagued by memories of trick-or-treating at home. Such instances of knocking on that one lady's door who would always turn us away because we were too tall. She'd say that we were stealing candy from the little kids. Little did she know that we actually were the little kids, we just weren't physically little. We were all tall for our age, in fact, we still are kind of tall for our age. Somethings never change. Or, Halloween night was usually when I felt frost for the first time since about...May. That deceptive warmish afternoon that turned breath freezing-cold as soon as dusk dipped its frosty fingers under the rolling hills (thank you Homer).

So it might not be freezing here, and that one lady might still turn us away because we actually are stealing candy from the little kids, but it's still Halloween. And while my traditions have morphed throughout the years, they still involve plenty of party.

Saturday night Brianna and I invited the crew over. The crew being anyone who wanted a party to go to on Saturday night. We moved the furniture out of the way, strung the disco ball, plugged in the strobe lights and turned up the tunes. We had a dance party. In fact, it was the second annual Halloween Dance, Disco, Groove, Hop, Shimmy, Swing etc...extravaganza. There were plenty of people, clever costumes and our humble house was buzzing with energy.

Get your groove on! Happy Fall Friends!
